My figurative practice explores liminality, performativity and the joy of embodiment. I invite the viewer to move in and with the forms. Slouching with silky limbs, captured in staccato poses, each of the figures are called The Shakers. They are a collection of colourful, anti-hero type players. Each character is disguised in masquerade and costume, their gender-ambiguous, shown to be free, law-less and without boundaries.
I hold a 1st Class Hons in Fine Art from Falmouth University, which I completed in 2018. Since then, I have been living and working in London. I’ve been awarded residencies with The Athena Standards Residency in Athens and CAST in Cornwall. My most recent accomplishments were to be selected for The Federation of British Arts ‘FBA Futures’ exhibition at Mall Galleries in Jan 2019 and to be represented by Dali and The Bear Gallery in Oxford.
I use watercolour, pigments, acrylic and oil to create powerful images that draw you in. They have a presence. I also work with printmaking and ceramics.
