Born in Malaysia, bred in New Zealand, Anna is a self-taught abstract artist based in London.
In a reprieve from logic and reason, her work is guided by instinct. Inspired by nature, both its patterns and her emotions within it, there is no right or wrong in her work, in either the journey or the destination. Textures and deep layers of colours breathe life and all its complexities onto her large canvases. Anna rarely use brushes, and have found utility in other tools which add both softness, hardness, and everything in
between: cloths, tissues, knives, sponges, boards, paint scrapers, and her bare hands. She believes scars and flaws make us beautiful and unique; these are the centerpieces of her work, which aim to honour rawness, brokenness, strength, vulnerability, and most of all, heart.
