Brendon Hull was born in Boksburg, South Africa, and currently lives in Johannesburg. He studied Art and design at Vaal Triangle Technikon, and went on to work as a commercial designer, but was ultimately drawn back to creative expression through paint, charcoal and recycled material, leaving the pixels behind.
He is inspired by stripped down nature without its plumage, abandoned or recycled industrial structures, and urban decay and it’s interaction with nature.
Brendon works with layers of paint and recycled material, building them up and scraping back as the work develops to reveal paint and material in a reduced color spectrum. Irregular lines and sketched shapes also play an important role in creating structure and adding depth to the pieces.
He has exhibited in group exhibitions at the Stewart Gallery in Parkhurst.
