Being a self-taught artist, I have derived much of my inspiration from the “GROUP OF SEVEN”, the French Impressionists, and the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh (Bahá’í Faith).

My family and I moved to Vancouver Island in 1988 from Alberta where I first began to paint (approx. 35yrs.ago).

With increasing confirmation and success in my work since that time, I decided in June 1993 to pursue painting on a full-time basis.

During the last few years, I have had many successes and completed several commission pieces for architects, a television production company, and numerous corporate and private collectors. Aside from my studio, my work can be seen at http://www.briansimons.com/

My aim is to just have fun….simple! My whimsical work is totally spontaneous and from my imagination. I often paint the current subject matter or ordinary things in life. I love to include the human element if possible.  Each painting is a total surprise to me when finished. At first, the process was a bit scary, but I am so excited to get up to the easel and see what happens, without any premeditated plan. I just paint the ideas that come to me.  Sooooo much fun. Hope it makes people smile!
