Darin Wood is a Canadian artist. He has a Bachelor of Science in Biology which was fueled by his love of nature. Wood loves to spend time outdoors in his native Canada and surrogate, Texas. Darin has been a member of Oil Painters of America and participated in their first-ever Salon Show. Wood founded DuBois Pop-Up Gallery in 2015 and has had several exhibitions throughout Texas. International Artist Magazine and Southwest Art Magazine have exhibited his works.
Wood's style has evolved from a goal of capturing the essence of his subject with painterly brushstrokes. This has led to numerous amalgams of techniques that combine bravura mark making with dynamic movement through the picture plane. His current push is to maximize the notan structure of his pieces and create strong compositions that play between photorealistic, impressionistic, and abstract. His subjects seem to materialize out of the ether or melt into the canvas creating space on the 2-D surface.
