Gaku Umezu is an architect and self-taught painter in Tokyo, Japan.
Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1980, he studied architecture and took the degree of Master of architecture at Hokkaido University. And now he lives and works as an architect in Tokyo.
He started oil painting by self-education at the age of 30.
He mainly paints abstract portrait and landscape.
The main concept of his works is to visualize multifaceted aspects of human essence and imagined landscape through the filter of his mind and experience.
His sources of creation consist of architectural thinking and majestic nature in Hokkaido.
