Lisa Advani is a self-taught artist from Germany now residing in Encinitas, California. Always fascinated with nature, she tries to understand its principles down to the microscopic level. Having a doctorate in biological sciences and working in the abstract, her art attempts to unite controlled scientific principles with untamed nature. The difficulty of objective science to fully explain things such as creativity, human consciousness along taste and opinions serves as a constant source of conflict and inspiration. She believes the need to create is embedded within our DNA. In her work, she captures fleeting moments, a snapshot of the ever-evolving natural world. Many of her paintings represent the wildness and fluidity of the ocean which she deconstructs into its intrinsic colors and rebuilds on canvas into geometrical shapes and structures. A common theme is the layers of dynamic blues interwoven with static gold or copper accents representing the elements of nature.
