I have lived in Tuscany for a long time and while living there I worked restoring painted 1800s walls and ceilings, as well as selling my paintings for income. Five years ago we moved to SW France.
I have always painted and Tuscany for me was the most magical place to live and paint, with its stunning light, landscape, and gardens.
My aerial paintings came about through ballooning with my husband who had his own individual ballooning business in Tuscany. I was immediately enchanted in flight to see our well known (on-the-ground) landscape in a completely different way. While in the air, there was no longer a strong horizontal between me and the sky … I saw, for the first time, that the sky and the land became one beautiful merging entity.
My first and continuing love is landscape painting. I really fear what we are doing to our planet, but I am not a political artist. However, I would love it if my paintings could encourage people to stop and look at their surroundings and understand the extraordinariness of the beauty and wonder of the natural world that we live in.
