Maria Yadegar is a Hampshire based artist, mainly painting in acrylics. She is constantly inspired by nature and the beautiful countryside and coast near where she lives. Each painting created has a personal connection to a place, or time, which is reflected in her work. Maria paints mainly from her home studio from sketches and photographs as inspiration.
In Oak Tree on the Heath (2020) above, she has used the composition of a solitary oak tree, set against a summer sky, surrounded by purple heather. The sky is painted in a variety of blues and lilacs, which enables the summer green leaves of the oak tree to stand out. She painted the sky using strong, fast brushstrokes, which are visible to give the sky the illusion of movement. This contrasts well with the vivid, bold colours of the heathers, which surround the oak tree.
As well as the pop up shop in Petersfield this summer, Maria is also taking part in the Hampshire Open Studios event. This year it will be mainly held on-line, but you are able to view her work in her home studio by appointment. In 2019 she took part as a wild card in Sky Arts, Landscape Artist of the Year and has entered again this year.
