My practice has always been centered around my personal exploration of my own cultural identity. I come from an incredibly diverse cultural background, my grandparents being from India, while my mother was born in South Africa and my father in Kenya. I was born and raised in the UK. My practice has explored this cultural hybridity through many mediums including painting, textiles, and installation. As well as being influenced by the writing of theorists Homi Bhabha and Stuart Hall with their theories of Cultural Hybridity and the idea of a Liminal Space, the idea that there is a grey area that exists between all cultures that allow cultural growth to thrive being of particular relevance. My educational history includes a BA in Fine Art from the Chelsea College of Art and Design as well as a Masters in Painting from Wimbledon College of Art and Design.
