Born in Sonepat, India, Parul Dar is a trained sculptress who has completed her Master’s degree from College of Arts, Chandigarh, the capital of the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana, which was designed by the Swiss French modernist architect, Le Corbusier.
She is fascinated by the innate characteristics of line, its imperfection, which is the foremost element in her drawings and sculptures. Her work primarily in abstraction and figurative consists of lines, organic forms stimulated in response to sub conscious state of mind.
Her instinct is an amalgamation of varied human conditions, ranging from suffering to joy, illusion and disillusion, women body and its psychology - that enquires; juxtapose the concept of self evaluation and the relationship with the worlds of world. She reflects on conscious and subconscious mind and its dichotomy through her art.
She has participated in various national and international art symposiums.
Her work is in the collection of Chandigarh Museum and in private collection.
She has contributed in the dissemination of arts and culture by working as an honorary member of Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh from 2008 – 2012.
