Ahh, this painting has quite the backstory. The base of this piece is a failed attempt at a heavy mixed media abstract realism painting. I face-timed my brother to show him my initial painting, and he laughed and said it looked “jank.” I found it interesting how the feeling of rejection and criticism made me feel. I actually found it all quite humorous in the end. It made me determined to transform the piece into something special.
