This artwork represents me very well because of the technique I used, based on burned Japanese washi paper on wooden canvas. My technique does not stop at pure painting, it is transformed into matter through the use of Japanese washi paper that I meticulously paint and then cut and burn, in order to allow the material element to come out of the canvas to communicate more physically, more consistently, with the viewer. The colors chosen are soft, earthy, delicate and nuanced.
What inspired me:
In October the trees burst with their most wonderful colors and I feel as if they had been saving up all their beauty to inspire me. Very inspirational, also, was this text signed by Hermann Hesse:
"Trees are like lonely persons... like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche. In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfil themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree. "
