My name is Teresa Gómez Fernández. I live in a town near Madrid, where I was born. Since I can remember, I have always loved to paint, thanks my parents who bought me all the materials that they could find.
I always wanted to become a doctor, and at 18 years old, I had the problem of choosing between Medicine and art. Now, I am an ophthalmologist, specialising in child visual discapacity, but I still love to paint. Nothing has changed.
I like to try to learn with all kind of techniques and materials, and usually prefer oil, watercolour and pastel. If I had to choose one of them, oil painting would be my favourite.
Landscapes and places are nice to paint, because you can look left or right and always find something that catches your attention. However, I like people the most. Their expressions, looks, senses, skin colours, beauty and age… Nothing can transmit and express as much as a human body for me.
I look for ideas of what to paint everywhere, but find the most inspiration from photographs published on the internet and then I give them my personal touch and turn the photo or real model in something completely different, something of mine.
My own favourite paintings are a set of oil canvas' called “ mothers”. Their looks, gestures and love have no comparison. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I am a mother too.
