Tiffany Alfonseca (1994) is a Bronx born Dominican-American mixed media artist who makes works that celebrate the Black and Afro-Latinx Diasporic communities and culture. Often situating her subjects within bold and colorful settings, Alfonseca explores the nuances of these communities in order to construct new narratives reflective of her upbringing as a Dominican-American woman. Her works frequently highlight her subjects within moments of intimacy and leisure, while analyzing questions of identity and race. Cultural symbolism, vibrant colors, and foliage are all signifiers that function as threads that remain consistent throughout her practice.
